Producing industrial minerals from mineral-bearing rock

Sibelco Europe MineralsPlus has eight production sites distributed throughout Europe. All of these sites are equipped to process mineral-bearing rock into industrial minerals. The latter are micronised powders which serve as raw materials for various products.

Dedicated milling per mineral

When processing raw materials, Sibelco Europe MineralsPlus applies the principle of dedicated milling per mineral. This means that practically every mill is specially modified or has even been specially designed for the processing of a specific raw material. The big advantage of this system is that the production process is optimally geared to the material in question and that cross contamination of the materials is avoided.

Flexible production

Even if demand fluctuates enormously or extra production is required, Sibelco Europe MineralsPlus is able to meet the client’s requirements. The fact that Sibelco Europe MineralsPlus has various production sites with flexible production facilities means that it can respond rapidly to accommodate unexpected situations.

Up-to-date technologies

New products in the market naturally require raw materials which meet their requirements. The Process Technology Department initiates modifications in the production process and plays a pioneering role in the development of new technologies or the modification of existing technologies.

Current developments are:

  • the production of industrial minerals in slurry-form
  • the coating of minerals (both batch and continual production)
  • the micronisation of minerals
